Eater SF this afternoon published a roundup of early remarks from critics and Yelpers regarding Commonwealth, the still-fledgling “real” restaurant from the makers of Mission Street Food. Most of the talk sounds pretty good. I can’t wait to eat at this place. Read all about it. Photo by Jennifer Yin.
This just in: Mission Street Food is movin’ on up. As previously reported, they’d decided to take their operation full time, and now they’re doing it. The new restaurant is called Commonwealth and it will open this summer at 2224 Mission Street (pictured). You can follow the place on Twitter or fan it on Facebook. […]
Looks like the now open Commonwealth decided to keep the unearthed Hunt’s Quality Donuts sign for the time being. The El Herradero sign was not so fortunate. Wanna bet that they’ll have a tribute donut dish on the menu? I can’t go there yet because they politely asked us early donor certificate holders to chill […]
First they came for the Aztecky wraparound awning thing, and now for the last vestige of the former taqueria. And with that, the conquest of Commonwealth is complete. UPDATE!!! The newly established Mission Chinese Food’s invention, the Peking Duck Chinito (also comes in Vegan!) is really, really great. It’s duck confit, crispy skin, cucumber, cilantro, and spicy hoisin sauce. All […]
First of all, I’m a little bummed the Commonwealth folks decided to get rid of El Herradero’s Aztecky wraparound awning thing. But if they hadn’t, we wouldn’t be treated to this view of some signage for Hunt’s Quality something or other. So it’s all good. (Thanks, Banks!) Previously: Commonwealth!
Since news of the forthcoming Commonwealth and changes at Mission Burger broke, the question loomed: Will MSF continue to exist? The answer is: Probably, but not until after an indefinite hiatus. Mission Street Food as we know it is closing up shop after Saturday’s performance. They are, however, going out with a bang. Chef Anthony […]
Doc Pop heard a rumor that the dudes behind the counter at Mission Burger might be moving their operation from the Duc Loi kitchen to somewhere more permanent. According to this rumor, this move has nothing to do with Commonwealth, so be on the lookout for two new Mission Street Food-related endeavors to begin dishing […]
