It should be no surprise when it feels like the entire world is trying to gain residence in our beloved Mission District, that we’d be just as a popular a hot spot for beings from out of this world. Alright so we took some creative license here, but it does turn out that California has the highest reported sightings of UFOs in the country.

On Thursdays from 1-8pm, we celebrate UFOs, Aliens, Nibiru, Planet X, Super Heroes, Ancient Aliens, Star Trek, Doctor Who and all of the classic Sci Fi from the 50s on at the Pops Files. Come watch real life UFO videos on our big screens and ponder the mysteries of the universe with us. Here’s a preview:

Thank you for voting Pops Bar best dive bar in SF Weekly’s Best of San Francisco! We did our research, a 1961 dictionary defined a “dive” as “a disreputable resort for drinking or entertainment”. It’s also referred to as a neighborhood bar, where local residents gather to drink and socialize. While we think it’s sexy to have a bad reputation, we happily accept the latter. Come get divey with your neighbors this week at Pops Bar!

Closed but still AWESOME

One or more of these explanations could be true. We are closed today because the entire staff is hung over after an innocent game of duck, duck, goose turned into a sip, sip, shot all nighter. We are closed today to give the bar a deep cleaning so you can enjoy a like-new sparkling Pops Bar because we care about your bar experience. We are closed today because we have a case of the Mondays and just don’t give a damn. Alright you know that couldn’t be true. Whatever happens today, We reopen on Tuesday with a full line up of entertainment to keep you going all week.

Super vintage drink tokens from Jack’s Bar on 24th Street a MILLION years ago

Screen Shot 2016-11-20 at 11.28.44 PM

Check out this total throwback recently unearthed by our ol’ pal Lizzy (former Mission Mission contributor) (who years ago relocated to another city altogether):

Wow don’t remember when or why I got these besides that it was probably right about this time 5 years ago. Actually, I was probably hanging onto them for @punkgirls one night or something. Viva Thursdays at Jacks. I’m even listening to Rilo Kiley 😶 [link]

RIP Jack’s!!! Also, what the F is happening with that space anyway??? (DJ Purple’s karaoke night ended, and then they closed up altogether, and then some refurbishment seemed to start, and then it stalled, and now it’s been sitting vacant for about a million years.)

Let’s rock:

And now please enjoy all these Jack’s-related posts from over the years…
