Weekend Mission Garage Sale Roundup

Last weekend I decided that I really love garage and sidewalk sales. In two short days, I scored a first pressing of “Rat On!” by Swamp Dog, a OneWorld Merlin Digital Lifestyle Solution, and an ethnic baby for two dollars total. Not a bad haul.

To help support my habit, I have added a sidebar widget for craigslist postings of garage sales in the Mission area. It’s good for you and good for the sellers. Scroll down to the bottom of the Mission Mission main page to see it and map out your route for Saturday morning.

In addition to the already mentioned Music Flea Market on 19th and Florida, here are some highlights:

Go to it, scavengers. And save some junk for me.

  1. I’m not even joking- I just thought about doing this very same thing for Haverhill Fever! You clever Mission Mission boys always beat me to the punch. Good thing I’m on the east coast and can still pretend I had an original idea!

  2. Dude. Swamp Dog is awesome. you need to check out his song Sam Stone. It’s about a Vietnam Vet and there’s a line that goes, “There’s a hole in daddy’s arm where all the money goes/Jesus Christ died for nothing I suppose”

  3. I got fooled by the Bethel Christian Church listing — walked down there, there was a sign saying it isn’t happening for two weeks. So watch out if you follow the Craigslist posts directly from here.

Credit where credit is due: Swamp Dogg may well have done a wonderful version of “Sam Stone” (I don’t know), but it’s a John Prine song and you should check that out first — a real tear-jerker.

Loved Dogg’s “Total Destruction To Your Mind”, though.

  4. Oh yeahhhhhhhhh!!!!

Mission garage saling is epic. I do it for hours most every weekend. I see many regulars and even have a personal garage sale nemesis. Most people who host them are really cool.
